Submitting Your Design For Silk Screen Printing

ONE-COLOR DESIGNS
Hard Copy: Images to be printed using one ink color, such as black ink on light colored shirts, or white ink on dark colored shirts etc., are best submitted as black image on white background up to 11" x 14". Image size can be scaled up or down as needed for no additional charge. Images submitted in colors other than black do not reproduce properly; black is the best image color for one-color image reproduction. The design's final printed color is determined by the color ink we print.
If the design is prepared on computer be sure the output resolution is set at a minimum of 300dpi, especially if your image will require enlargement. Low resolution (e.g. 72dpi images) downloaded from the WEB are useless for quality image reproduction! Do not bother to bring in 72dpi images unless you are prepared to pay for image correction art charges.

Electronic Media submissions: Images submitted on electronic media (Zip, CD, USB Drive) are subject to the same resolution constraints addressed above (minimum 300dpi). A variety of image formats are acceptable, such as TIFF, JPEG, PDF etc., as are Illustrator and Photoshop files. Images created using the word processing program Microsoft Word are not acceptable for image reproduction. Images can be emailed to adrian@adrianstshirts.com
MULTI-COLOR DESIGNS
Hard copy: Designs can be submitted as mechanical color separations

Electronic Media: The best way to submit multicolor images is to utilize programs such as Illustrator or Photoshop. With the image's colors separated onto individual layers reproduction of the image is a fairly simple and uncomplicated process. However, if the image's colors have been flattened (ie. all merged together onto one layer) the entire image must first be reverse engineered (separated) into separate color layers before it is ready for reproduction. If the image consists of areas of solid color, contained within a black outline, or of a limited number of solid areas of color and words, this is fairly easy to do (depending on the complexity of the design). From the above it should be obvious that in order to avoid a significant art charges, prepare multicolor images using layers (all red elements of the image on a red layer, all blue elements of the image on the blue layer etc.) using Photoshop or Illustrator; minimum resolution of 300dpi. If your design is a color photograph or contains significant areas of subtle shading and color blending see "Reproduction of Complex full color images."
